The chill pill

Kusama’s untold motto is “expect chaos“… and you better believe that its community embrace such a motto with passion!, however, the rollercoaster sometimes gets a bit to frenetic🙀😼😸…

A new Polkadot binary (v0.9.18) was just released, and this binary included some minute changes to the experimental database called ParityDB which, in fact, broke its functionality and provoked some validators to involuntarily misbehave.

ParityDB is a novel database created exclusively for Substrate networks and it consistently outperforms the legacy alternative RocksDB, that is why some nodes – including Gatotech – applied it for validation purposes.

However, given the heightened risk of errors with the newer Polkadot release, Gatotech decided to take the chill pill and migrate to the more stable RocksDB until further notice.
